The unintended expatriate blogger behind Sage Brook Ivory

Hi there, I’m Sophie
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Paris, France.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The first few months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt stable.
Why I Built Sage Brook Ivory
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Covers (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in France
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a resource from a tourism-promoting authority
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in France goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I will keep noting what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
